Robot Olympics
China hosted a three-day-long World Humanoid Robot Games. Robots competed in Track and Field, Table Tennis and robot specific events like medicine sorting and cleaning services.
There were 280 teams from 16 countries.
I don’t care much for the other services, but, would I like to watch a Robot Olympics? 100 percent-sign me up.
I think the opportunity for private leagues in this space looks promising. Engineers and Scientists would jump at the opportunity to show off their skills in sports.
The league format, competition rules and structure will need to be established- not a hard task-and I’m convinced there is an audience for this.
Where is my house?
A recent article in the Economist talks about addresses in India and the problems associated with it. The article states-
‘Addresses in the West tend to follow a simple, hierarchical system: street name and number, district, city and post code. Indian addresses have those features and more: “next to SBI ATM”; “behind Ganesh Temple”; “near Minerva cinema”’
The addresses are causing problems for delivery app agents who can’t seem to find the homes they need to reach. Not to mention the frustration of Uber Drivers and Customers who struggle to find each other.
Another issue is that the roads that do have names are referred to differently. If you are from Mumbai, you refer to ‘Hutatma Chowk’ as ‘Flora Fountain’.
Even if you are giving directions using places it can be a challenge- My father’s generation calls a famous Mumbai restaurant- Talk of the Town, I call it Jazz by the Bay, kids today know it as Pizza by the Bay (the current name)
This may change in the future but I will still always give directions by saying- ‘You pass PDP, go up the Shemaroo lane, take a left at the top of the hill, then another left and it’s the building that is opposite the Sudarshan Dosa Wala.‘
Prime Minister Uses ChatGPT
The Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has said he uses ChatGPT to get second opinions on some of his decisions. While that might be an endorsement for Open AI’s flagship product, yet, it is hilariously frightening.
What’s next? Judge’s use Chat GPT to make courtroom judgements? How about Central Banks using AI to determine if interest rates should be changed?
AI may evolve into a superhuman intelligence someday but if you use ChatGPT, Gemini or any other AI app, you know that the output is weighted heavily on your prompt. A biased prompt will give a biased result.
The leader of a country must make decisions that have degrees of complexity that only a small percentage of the world’s population can understand. Without providing context, the current situation, tone, political climate and twenty or more other variables there is no way ChatGPT can get a full understanding of what a Prime Minister is contemplating.
To my friends in Sweden- All the best!!!
